High Definition Technologies Helps Power the New Hilton DoubleTree in West Kelowna

West Kelowna, BC — September 10, 2025High Definition Technologies Inc. had the privilege of joining hotel leadership, community partners, and guests at the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the new Hilton DoubleTree West Kelowna. Representing our team were owners Darryl Sinclair and Mike Bell, who celebrated the unveiling of a property we’re especially proud to support—because behind the scenes, High Definition provided all in-house audio, video, and automation across Turtle Jack’s restaurant, the banquet facilities, and the hotel. The mayor of West Kelowna was also in attendance, underscoring the importance of the project for the community.

“Hospitality tech should be invisible when it’s working and unforgettable in how it elevates the guest experience,” said Darryl Sinclair. “From breakfast service at Turtle Jack’s to a full-house wedding in the ballroom, we engineered this property to feel effortless for staff and magical for guests.”

What We Delivered

Property-wide AV & control, designed for reliability, speed, and simplicity:

  • Turtle Jack’s restaurant

    • Distributed audio with precise zone tuning for lounge, bar, dining, patio, washrooms, and host stand.

    • Day/Night sound profiles and automatic source changes for service transitions (brunch → dinner → late night).

    • High Definition video distribution to feature content across sports/event days with zero lip-sync drift.

    • Simple controls: staff select sources and scenes on a wall-mounted touch panel or a secured tablet—no guesswork.

  • Banquet rooms & meeting spaces

    • Scalable sound reinforcement with speech-optimized EQ, wireless microphones, and flexible DSP routing.

    • Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) presentation via HDMI/USB-C plates and secure wireless presentation.

    • Quick-Flip presets: divisible walls trigger automatic reconfiguration of audio zones, video routes, and control UIs.

    • Event modes (keynote, gala, wedding, classroom) recall lighting, audio, and projection scenes instantly.

  • Guest areas & hotel operations

    • Lobby, corridors, fitness, and back-of-house coverage with zoning that respects quiet hours and brand ambience.

    • Digital signage endpoints provisioned for reception, elevators, and meeting room door signs.

    • Centralized automation for scheduled volume curves, source rotations, and after-hours lockouts.

Technology That Just Works (and Keeps Working)

  • IP-based AV backbone: Low-latency 4K video over the network with EDID management and HDCP compliance for reliable switching—no “mystery black screens.”

  • Enterprise-grade DSP: Room-by-room tuning for speech intelligibility and consistent tonal balance from quiet breakfasts to packed banquets.

  • Managed network & QoS: Isolated AV VLANs, predictable multicast/IGMP behavior, and bandwidth policing keep hospitality Wi-Fi snappy while AV stays rock solid.

  • Resilient power strategy: Conditioned power, UPS protection for core racks, and safe shutdown routines guard against outages.

  • Remote monitoring & support: Proactive health checks, alerts, and secure remote access mean we often fix issues before they’re noticed on site.

“Our mandate was simple: make every shift easier for staff and every moment better for guests,” added Mike Bell. “That means intuitive controls up front and serious engineering under the hood.”

Designed for Staff Simplicity

Hospitality teams don’t have time to be AV engineers. We built task-based interfaces so anyone can:

  • Pick a room → choose music → set volume → press Start.

  • Tap Sports Night to route the game to selected displays with the correct audio follow.

  • Use Wedding Speech or Conference Q&A to auto-prioritize microphones and tame feedback.

Training took hours, not days. And because presets are protected, the system stays consistent across shifts and seasons.

Events, Done Right

From corporate breakouts to 300-guest celebrations, the banquet system scales fast:

  • Combine/split rooms in seconds—audio and displays re-map automatically.

  • Presenter-friendly: wired and wireless inputs “just appear” on the right screens.

  • Recording/streaming-ready: clean audio feeds are available for videographers and hybrid events.

A Foundation for the Future

We engineered the DoubleTree’s AV and automation with headroom and modularity:

  • Spare network capacity and rack space for new zones or displays.

  • Software-defined scenes and signage layouts that evolve with the brand.

  • API hooks to integrate with property systems as needs grow.
